Intro

  The scale of the derivatives market in Korea was ranked No. 1 in the world until 2011, but

unfortunately has fallen out of the top 10 now. The domestic derivatives market, in which

individuals, institutions and foreigners coexisted, started entering a recession, and has

consequently been dominated by foreigners.

  Many comments that it would be difficult to revitalize the market like the one with 3000 of

stock price index, unless the derivatives market connecting to the spot market is rebounded.

We need to seek a new way forward to revive the derivatives market. We hope to seek the

way at the 15th Seoul International Derivatives & Alternative Investments Conference.

  Although ELS(Equity Linked Securities) and ETF(Exchange Traded Fund), etc. have grown

up as an important feature investment techniques, it is necessary to develop a variety of

innovative products so as to distribute risk. At Session 1, we will take a look at an assignment

for the take-off of derivatives market. Visitors will hear views of domestic and foreign experts

regarding the improvement issue in the system and infrastructure aspects, assignment for each

investor for developing derivatives market, and innovation for attracting global investors, etc.

  The demand of the 4th industrial revolution has raised a disturbance even in the financial

market. There are both expectations like “It can completely change many things” and concerns.

At Session 2, we’ll take a look at the expected impact of the 4th industrial revolution on the

derivatives market and look into changes brought by IT innovation of advanced market.

  US’s benchmark rate is about to climb, and the low interest rate environment is ending. Due

to a steady state of lower growth and low interest rates, domestic financial investment industry

which has been expanding a foreign investment and alternative investment also stands at the

crossroads. At Session 3, we’ll conduct in-depth discussions on the direction of global alternative

investment of Pension Funds and finance companies, etc.
