HSBC Group General Manager, Head of International Asia Pacific and Head of Strategy & Planning Asia Pacific
Matt Lobner is Group General Manager, Head of International, Asia-Pacific and Head of Strategy and Planning, Asia Pacific, at HSBC.
Mr. Lobner has direct responsibility for 11 international markets in Asia, comprising Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mauritius, New Zealand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. In this capacity, he is responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation of Group strategy in these markets. Mr. Lobner is also responsible for Strategy and Planning across all countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. Lobner is also Non-Executive Director of HSBC Bank Australia Limited Board, President Commissioner of PT Bank HSBC Indonesia, Director and Chairman of HSBC Bank (Mauritius) Limited and Chairman of the Members’ Council of HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Limited. He is a member of a number of HSBC Asia Pacific committees, including the Executive Committee, Asset and Liability Committee and Risk Management Committee.
Mr. Lobner joined the HSBC Group in 2005 from McKinsey&Company and has worked in various roles in the US, UK and Asia. More recent appointments include Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy and Planning in Europe as well as Global Head of Strategy for Commercial Banking.
Prior to joining HSBC, Mr. Lobner was a US Naval Submarine Officer in the United States Navy. He has a Master o Science in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy.
